About Sinsebility.com
Sinsebility.com was launched in the summer of 2006 as a simple and easy-to-navigate public information website, for the sole purpose of refuting the U.S. government's bogus claims about the use of marijuana (more appropriately called cannabis sativa). We've all seen the poorly-made, pointless, and brutally exaggerated public service ads (PSAs)... A teenager smoking weed forgets to pick his little brother up from baseball practice, leaving him in the pouring rain... Another teen smokes, then accepts a dare to try and outrun a vicious guard dog... A car full of stoned guys slowly rolls away from a fast-food window and runs over a little girl on a bike... A couple of middle school aged kids find daddy's gun and one decides it'd be fun to shoot himself in the head... The absurd list goes on.
Unfortunately, there are lots and lots of people out there who believe this stuff. They are the ones who have never smoked marijuana before in their lives, nor have they ever voluntarily associated with anyone who did. When they think of pot, they think of these horribly fake and exaggerated scenarios that the Office For National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) throws at them. So, that will be one primary goal of this site: to correct the lies about what exactly marijuana does. The truth? Pot makes you lazy, perhaps, and "slow" for a little while, but it does not strip you of all common sense.
I toyed with the idea of writing a book. But I would have run out of patience well before reaching my goal of 420 pages. So, the idea struck me to create an informative website, with a table of contents filled with all the infinitely many reasons why marijuana should, rationally, be a legally regulated and sold substance. With new pro-marijuana initiatives getting on the ballot in states and cities every year, I hope this site can make a comprehensive case to voters who are undecided on the issue. I also hope visitors to the site will leave with a more realistic view on marijuana use and marijuana laws, and how the latter can ruin your life while the former probably can't.
The name "Sinsebility" is a simple combination of "Sensibility" (a simple mindset that should have, by now, led to the legalization of marijuana) and "Sinsemilla" (a slang word for primo herb, meaning "seedless" in Spanish). Knowledgeable potheads will get it without any explanation... and Sensibility.com was already taken.
The goal of this site is to be as informative and accurate as possible, while remaining accessible to all. Throughout the pages of this site, you will see numbered references next to pertinent pieces of information, with corresponding footnotes to be found on the "References" page directing you to the verifiable, independent sources of my information. I find this especially important considering fear-mongering sites like Freevibe and AboveTheInfluence.com rarely, if ever, provide proof of their claims (not to mention that when they do, they often cite themselves).
About the webmaster:
I realize that the whole site has just a little too prominent a "Microsoft Office" look to it, but hey... that's what I did it on (or more accurately, AM doing it on). I'm not a web designer or a tech freak by any means - I'm a senior at a college in the Midwest, studying political science with plans of law school. Hockey is my legitimate pastime, and the Columbus Blue Jackets rule, however terrible their record is. I created this site in my spare time, and it will be modified and updated the same way. I can be reached by e-mail at hossua34@yahoo.com.
